ACORD is an Africa-led international alliance working for social justice and equality which facilitates collaborative action on grassroots development programs as well as policy, advocacy and public education programmes. ACORD seeks to go beyond addressing the consequences of poverty to understanding, challenging and changing the conditions that cause poverty and exclusion through a global programme that unites practical work with advocacy. ACORD works in 19 African countries and its secretariat is based in Nairobi and London. HIV and AIDS is one of four key themes that defines ACORD's work.
