It is essential to know that HIV is spread through body fluids like blood, semen, pre-seminal fluid, rectal fluids, vaginal fluids and breast milk. It does not spread through saliva or any other fluid from the body.
It is possible for people who are not sexually active to also get infected with the HIV. Hence everyone should get tested for HIV regularly.
The way to prevent HIV while sexual intercourse is to use a condom during both anal and vaginal sex. Additionally, avoiding multiple partners is also advisable.
The other ways HIV can spread is through needles and blood transfusion. Hence, sharing needles with the people suffering from HIV or taking blood from an unauthorized donor should also be avoided.
Make sure you know about the HIV status of your partner before you indulge in sexual intercourse with them.
